Your family’s busy, we understand, but why not take your mind off the realities of life and head out to a Maniacs game with your kids? Whether you’ve been bogged down thinking about Security System Pricing or that new promotion or whether or not to look for a new job, here are a few reasons to press “pause” for a game:
The Kids Will Love It: Indoor football means more scoring than outdoor football and the kids will LOVE all the action. Also, after each game the Maniacs invite the fans down onto the field so your kids can even get a picture or an autograph!
It’s a Cheap Date: If you and your wife need a night out, a Maniac’s game is a great choice. Tickets aren’t expensive and it’s a less stuffy option than a fancy restaurant. Disclaimer: this only works if your wife’s easy breezy!
Support the Team: Why not come out and support a local sports team? Maryland doesn’t have too many great teams (sorry Ravens fans) so it’s important to get behind the Maniacs to ensure its continued success.

Indoor football has a lot of rules. It is well a thought out and organized league. The rules were thought out, for a smaller playing space then the NFL. The field is only 50 yards, half the size of a regulation NFL field. When the teams take the field there are only 8 players per side. Substituting on either side of the ball is allowed.

The indoor league plays four quarters of 15 minutes each. There is a 15 to 20 minute half time. As with the NFL, the offensive team has four downs to make ten yards.I found some more information here. One big difference is that in indoor football the defense can only blitz one person.

In the indoor football game there are two additional ways that you can score points. You can score four points fo a drop kick field goal. You can also score one point for a rouge-kickoff downed in the end zone. The rules and scoring may be different for this game but it leads to a good game to see. Many times the teams will do a lot of scoring. So if you like offense, this is a good game for you to see. Get your seats now and you will not be disappointed.

The not so exciting “Maryland Maniacs” are an American indoor football team residing out of College Park, Maryland. The indoor football team plays most of its home games at the “Cole’s Field House” and by the time of the inaugural season their home games are held at “The Show Place Arena”.

Unfortunately as of this year they have left the indoor football league and it is unknown what league they will play in or if they will play at all in 2011, mostly due to such a losing record the following year. But a rumor has leaked out that the possibility is indeed there. But on other good notes about the league it is extremely blessed have such great football athletes such as Mike and Glen Clark residing out of Leigh Valley.

Moving forward the Wenatchee Venom and the Wyoming Cavalry each came to the league bringing incredible talent to this form of football. An as well another team joined along in the lovely state of Nebraska, adding a talented league veteran Mike McCoy as their team leader. So I-m sure they will be full of excitement for this year many are rooting for the rejuvenated “Arizona Adrenaline” to have a great opening season and hopefully for their sake they will, but only time will tell as the season starts to roll.

Was it Bill Gates, Ross Perot, or Dan Snyder. The answer is none of the above. The third most popular Professional Football Team in Maryland (Third to the Baltimore Ravens & Washington Redskins) was started originally in 2007 by Marty Johnson under the name Chesapeake Tide. The Chesapeake Tide played in the Continental Football League. However, halfway through the second season Messay Hailermariam took over the team due to financial mismanagement and players not being paid. With Marty Johnson out, Hailermariam said players were not being paid according to contract, “When I took over, they were playing because they loved the game and they wanted to stick with what they had started.’ The now defunct Tide gained steamed and resurfaced in 2009 as The Maryland Maniacs. They played in the Indoor Football League, which is a currently the largest indoor football league involving twenty-two teams. The Maniacs are co-owned by Messay Hailemariam, Alvin “Jerome”Nichols III, and David Yee. Alvin Nichols played high school football and most recently played professional football in the Washington area. The Maniacs use The University of Marylands Cole Fieldhouse as their home field. The Maniacs no longer play in the Indoor Football League and do not know if there will be a 2012 season.

If you ever visit College Park, Maryland make certain you go see the Maryland Maniacs. The Indoor Football team recently left the Indoor Football League but they will undoubtedly continue to offer the action they are known for in the many years ahead.

The Maniac’s first season, in 2009, resulted in ten wins and four losses. Their following season gave them just one win along with 13 losses. Their present standing puts them at 11 wins along with 18 losses. Some of the Maniac’s outstanding players include quarterback Dwayne Smith along with offensive lineman Tyree Spinner. Jason Good has made a name for himself as the running back. Wide receiver Christopher Ivory demonstrated some of his amazing talent under interim head coach Darryl D’Ateno.

Although their last season was rather dismal the Maryland Maniacs won the 2009 United Atlantic division title. They received some assistance from the Lady Maniacs dancers, headed by Charita White, as well as Manny the Maniac, their mascot.

The Maniacs play their home games at Cole Field House although their opening season games were played at The Show Place Arena. Since they left the Indoor Football League it is uncertain what league they will play in during 2011. It is reported that they are discussing the possibilities of joining the American Indoor Football Association.
